St. Vincent and the Grenadines is preparing for a bigger role on Southern Caribbean cruise itineraries. Global Ports Holding, known as GPH, has signed a 30-year agreement with the government to develop and operate the St. Vincent Cruise Port in Kingstown, the capital and main port.

The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding the two sides signed in June 2026. Subject to the conditions in the deal being met, GPH expects to begin operations at the port in the first quarter of 2027.

There is already a strong base to build on. The port is expected to welcome more than 250,000 cruise passengers during the 2026-27 cruise season. GPH plans a phased investment program to modernize the port infrastructure, expand berthing capacity so larger cruise vessels can be accommodated, and improve the overall passenger experience.

For cruise lovers, investments like this often mean smoother port days and more itinerary options over time, as destinations work to strengthen their position in the region. St. Vincent is clearly aiming to do exactly that in the Southern Caribbean.
