For travelers who dream of seeing the Mediterranean without unpacking and repacking in every port, Island Princess is in the middle of a voyage built for exactly that. The ship left Fort Lauderdale earlier this month on a special 50-night roundtrip sailing called the Grand Mediterranean Odyssey.

By the time the 88,000-ton ship returns to Port Everglades in late November, it will have visited 24 ports across 10 countries and territories. After leaving Florida, the itinerary called in Bermuda and the Azores, crossed through the Strait of Gibraltar, and reached the Western Mediterranean earlier this week, with stops planned in Spain, Italy, and France including Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Ajaccio, Portoferraio, and Naples.

From late October into early November, the sailing moves to the Eastern Mediterranean for Greece, Turkey, Croatia, and Montenegro, with highlights such as Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Kusadasi, Dubrovnik, and Kotor. Before heading back across the Atlantic, the ship is also scheduled to visit Gibraltar, Morocco, and the Canary Islands, including Casablanca and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Guests who could not take the full 50 nights also had the option to book 25-night segments between Fort Lauderdale and Piraeus, the port for Athens.

The longer adventures do not end there for Island Princess. After returning to Florida, the 2003-built ship is scheduled for Caribbean and Bahamas sailings, then in December it begins 16-night Panama Canal cruises between Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale featuring a full canal transit. That season runs through late April, followed by a summer in Alaska and British Columbia with seven-night cruises between Vancouver and Whittier.
